Hitmen Look To Dethrone Wheat Kings

Four games in five nights. Or better yet, eight possible points in five days.

The Hitmen are in Brandon tonight (6 p.m., Sportsnet 960 The FAN, WHL Live) for the second meeting of the season against the Wheat Kings.

After back-to-back home-and-home sets to start November, the Hitmen now enter their busiest stretch of the month with four games in five nights starting tonight in Brandon.

The two clubs last met on Oct. 8 at the ‘Dome that saw the Wheat Kings hold on for a 5-3 win following a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Last weekend saw the Hitmen go 0-1-1 against the Central Division leading Medicine Hat Tigers with a 4-2 setback on Nov. 10 and a 4-3 overtime loss on Nov. 11.

The Wheat Kings meanwhile are riding a two-game win streak after a 3-1 win over the Saskatoon Blades last weekend.

Headed into Tuesday night’s matchup, Matteo Gennaro (2 G), Jakob Stukel (1 G, 1 A) and Jake Bean (2 A) all have two points each to the lead the Hitmen against Brandon. Over the last five years, the Hitmen are 5-7-0-1 against the Wheaties including a 2-3-0-1 mark in Manitoba.  The two teams won’t meet again until on Friday, Jan. 12 in Brandon.

Hitmen Milestones To Watch:

Jakob Stukel is two points shy of 150. 

Matteo Gennaro is three assists away from 100.

Jake Kryski needs five goals for 50.
