Hitmen Acquire Goaltender Carl Stankowski From The Seattle Thunderbirds
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced they have acquired 18-year-old goaltender Carl Stankowski and a conditional fourth-round WHL Bantam Pick from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for the rights to 17-year-old U.S. prospect Mike Koster, an eighth-round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional fourth-round selection in either 2019 or 2020.
“Despite missing all of last season, Carl has a winning pedigree leading Seattle to a WHL Championship in 2017 as a 16-year-old,” said Hitmen general manager Jeff Chynoweth. “You can never have enough depth in goal and we expect Carl to be ready to hit the ice come training camp which opens August 24th.”
This trade is a homecoming for Stankowski, returning to the city where he got his start. A graduate of Springbank minor hockey, he was a star for the Calgary AAA Bantam Flames before being selected by Seattle in the second-round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
