Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club will pick 17th overall when the Western Hockey League holds its annual Bantam Draft on Thursday, May 3, in the Sundance Room at the Deerfoot Inn.  Fans can watch the first round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft online, free of charge, via LIVE webcast at  The Draft begins at 8:30 a.m.

The WHL Bantam Draft is the first opportunity for WHL Clubs to replenish their systems with graduating bantam-aged players. The order of selection for the first round of the draft is determined through a weighted lottery consisting of the six non-playoff teams. The draft order is based on the inverse overall standings from the regular season.

17th overall selection.

Round 2

39th overall selection.

Round 3

None.  Pick sent to Tri-City in Chris Driedger trade.

Round 4

83rd and 84th overall selections.  84th pick acquired in Justin Kirsch and Kenton Miller trade to Moose Jaw.

Round 5

105th overall selection.

Round 6

127th overall selection.

Round 7

149th overall selection.

Round 8

171st overall selection.

Round 9

193rd overall selection.

Round 10

215th overall selection.

Players eligible for the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft will be 1997-born players who reside in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Former Hitmen bantam picks include Jake Virtanen (2011), Alex Roach (2008), Cody Sylvester (2007), Matt MacKenzie (2006), Michael Stone (2005), Martin Jones (2005), Brett Sonne (2004), Ryan White (2003) and Ryan Getzlaf (2000).
