Hitmen Set For Final Bout Against Tigers
The road trip ends, but the busy stretch continues on.
It’s a Tuesday night clash as the Hitmen take on the Medicine Hat Tigers, (7 p.m., WHL Live, Sportsnet 960 THE FAN/Alt Stream) to wrap up the season series.
Through the first five games of the series the Hitmen have gone 2-2-1 against their Central Division opponents, being outscored 19-13. The last contest saw the Hitmen come away in dramatic fashion with a 5-4 win at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Feb. 11. Conner Chaulk broke the tie with 1:48 left in the contest for the win. Mark Kastelic (1G, 4A) leads the Hitmen with five points against Medicine Hat, while Jakob Stukel (3G, 1A) and Luke Coleman (1G, 3A) both have four.
Last outing saw the Hitmen fall 4-3 in overtime to the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday evening and have earned at least a point in eight of their last 11 games posting a record of 4-3-4-0. Kastelic scored twice to reach 20 goals on the year for the first time in his WHL career, while Carson Focht added the other marker. Goaltender Matthew Armitage ended with 40 saves, including 24 in the third period to steal a point for the Hitmen.

Medicine Hat also last played Saturday night, losing to the Red Deer Rebels 6-2 for only their second regulation loss in their last ten games played. With a 7-2-1 mark in the stretch of games, the Tigers continue to hold onto first in the Central Division with an eight point lead over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The Hitmen will have little time for rest as they’ll head back home to take on the Kootenay ICE Wednesday night at the Saddledome for the first meeting since Dec. 28, and the last meeting between the rivals.
