The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced $12,439 will be donated to the Four Feet Companion Foundation through the fifth annual Pucks for Paws presented by WEB Consulting Ltd.
As part of the program, the Calgary Hitmen Foundation and WEB Consulting Ltd. each contributed $10 for every point collected this past regular season by Jake Bean, Beck Malenstyn and Jordy Stallard. Bean finished the 2016-17 Western Hockey League campaign with 45 points while Stallard tallied 27 prior to his January trade to Prince Albert. Beck Malenstyn joined the initiative after Stallard’s transaction and recorded 29 points.
“This program helps care for animals in need and has become a wonderful annual campaign,” said Malenstyn. “We have once again received tremendous support from a large number of people, including Hitmen fans and we would like to thank them all.”
The Four Feet Companion Foundation gives financial grants and volunteer support to registered animal charities in Calgary and surrounding area so they can continue to rescue, save lives and find forever homes for companion animals in Alberta while promoting responsible pet guardianship. The priority areas of funding are for homeless, abandoned or injured animals, spay and neuter initiatives, emergencies and education.
“This money will truly have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of animals,” said Four Feet Foundation volunteer Mirella Montgomery. “We are extremely appreciative of the generous support and awareness for Pucks for Paws and honestly can’t tell you how much this means to Four Feet Companion Foundation.”
Funds were also collected through an online auction organized by WEB Consulting Ltd. donations and a portion of the RE/MAX 50-50 proceeds from the Pucks for Paws game on December 17 between the Hitmen and Kelowna Rockets.
