Brooks Macek and Victor Rask scored 26 seconds apart just over five minutes into the third period lifting the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the Red Deer Rebels Wednesday night at Enmax Centrium.

After a scoreless first and second period, the Rebels opened the scoring on Joel Hamilton’s third goal of the season just 42 seconds into the final frame.

Macek with his 13th goal and Rask with his 3rd of the season cued the Hitmen comeback.

Hitmen goaltender Chris Driedger made 35 saves including a couple of brilliant stops late to preserve the win.

Calgary continues to dominant on the road, improving to 12-1-0-1 away from the Scotiabank Saddledome this season.

The loss for Red Deer was their first in regulation after a 9-0-1-0 run.

The win moves Calgary into sole possession of top spot in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Hitmen, 21-7-1-3, open a three-game homestand Saturday night against the Regina Pats.  Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
