Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Greg Chase and goaltender Mack Shields have both been recognized by NHL Central Scouting in the CSS preliminary rankings for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
“This is great recognition for Greg and Mack,” said Hitmen Head Coach Mike Williamson. “I think both players know they still have a lot of work to do but they are top players for their age group. We expect them to continue to improve and help us win at the same time.”
Chase, ranked 17th among North American skaters in the Western Hockey League, has recorded two goals and 14 assists for 16 points over 21 games this season. The Hitmen selected the Sherwood Park, Alberta product in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
Ranked fifth among North American goaltenders in the WHL, this month Shields has posted a 1.97 goals-against average and 0.929 save percentage with a 1-1 record. The Saskatoon, SK, native is playing in his first WHL season and in seven games carries a 3-2-0-1 record with a 3.61 goals-against-average and 0.876 save percentage.
The 2013 NHL Entry Draft will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey from June 28-29.
