CALGARY HITMEN TO HELP LAUNCH ConnecTeen FRIDAY NIGHT

The game saw the launch of ConnecTeen, a new Distress Centre program offering 24 hour support for teens.

During a pre-game cheque presentation the TELUS Calgary Community Board made a $50,000 donation to the program.  Another $10,000 was donated by EllisDon in the second intermission while the Hitmen and EllisDon then partnered to make an additional donation of $4,942.50, proceeds from the 50/50 draw.

In total, a total sum donation of $64,942.50 was given to ConnecTeen.

The program will provide Calgary youth with peer support from trained youth volunteers, offering advice from someone of a similar age and who can relate to similar issues.

Youth will be able to use this service in a comfortable and safe manner by either calling ConnectTeen at 403-264-TEEN (8336) or chatting online at www.calgaryconnecteen.com
