Hard work pays off.
Hitmen second-rounder Brandon Whynott made it a goal for as long as he could remember to be drafted into the WHL.
The 15-year-old put in countless hours of work on and off the ice and it all came together when his name was called with the 35th pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
It was mission accomplished and a dream come true.
“It’s a day I’ll always remember,” he said. “I was at school and hooked up my computer into the TV and we watched the draft as a class. I saw some friend’s names come up on the draft board and I was celebrating with them, and then I heard my name called. I was overwhelmed with excitement and texted my mom and dad right away, they were so proud.
“Calgary is where I wanted to go. It’s a great organization and I’m excited to one day play there and witness the awesome fan support that I’ve heard so much about.”
