Hitmen Announce 2019-20 WHL Regular Season Schedule

The Calgary Hitmen today unveiled their 2019-20 Western Hockey League regular season schedule.  The Hitmen will begin their 25th anniversary campaign on Saturday, September 21 in Swift Current against the Broncos.

The home opener is Friday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. against the Edmonton Oil Kings.  The Hitmen then return to Scotiabank Saddledome ice two days later on Sunday, September 29, against the Medicine Hat Tigers.  Game time is 4:00 p.m.

The full 68-game schedule will see Calgary play Central Division rivals Edmonton and Red Deer eight times each (four home, four away) while facing Lethbridge seven times, Medicine Hat six and Swift Current five.  The Hitmen take on East Division opponents four times (twice home, twice away) and each Western Conference team once, hosting the U.S. Division while visiting the B.C. Division.


Among the schedule highlights, The Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, December 1 at 4:00 p.m. when the Hitmen host the Red Deer Rebels and the TELUS BE BRAVE Anti-Bullying Game on Thursday, February 27 against the Winnipeg ICE.  Sunday Funday, presented by Ricky’s All-Day Grill, also returns this season while new this year is AirBand Together for a Wish supporting Children’s Wish Foundation on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 14 against Saskatoon.

Individual game day ticket information along with details on exchange dates for Hitmen Hockey Pass holders will be announced at a later date.

Of the 34 Hitmen home dates, 27 will be played on either weekends or holidays with the following breakdown: Friday (9), Saturday (3), Sunday (13) along with a game on Thanksgiving Monday and New Year’s Day.

Calgary has a pair of season-high five game homestands, the first from October 28 to November 8 and the second from January 26 to February 7.  The schedule also features a season-high six straight games on the road from November 9-23 which includes a trip through the five-team East Division.

Hitmen home games played Monday through Saturday will have a 7:00 p.m. puck drop with four exceptions:

  • 1:00 p.m. on New Year’s Day versus Medicine Hat
  • 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 1 against Red Deer
  • 11:00 a.m. for the TELUS BE BRAVE Anti-Bullying Game on Thursday, February 27 against Winnipeg

Sunday home games are either 2:00 or 4:00 p.m. starts.

The Hitmen Hockey Pass, good for all regular season home games plus the first two playoff dates, is on sale now with individual game tickets, including the home opener, to go on sale in August.
