HITMEN BOUNCE BACK WITH 2-0 WIN OVER THE TIGERS

Brayden Peters made 23 saves for his third shutout of the season and seventh of his career to backstop the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-0 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night at Co-op Place.
On a night where goals were tough to come by, Calgary opened the scoring in the final four minutes of the second period when Carter Yakemchuk fired home his 17th the season. Sean Tschigerl would later seal the victory with an empty net tally with 34.9 seconds remaining in regulation. His 24th of the campaign established a new career high for the Anaheim Ducks prospect.
The Hitmen outshot the Tigers 31-23 and went 1-6 on the power play while killing all four chances for Medicine Hat.
With now four games remaining in the regular season, Calgary pulls to within one point of the Tigers for seventh place in the Eastern Conference while remaining two points ahead of Swift Current for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Broncos kept pace by skating to a 3-1 win in Red Deer.
The Hitmen are back home tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 19 to complete the weekend with a rematch with the Tigers. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. It will be another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential.
