Hitmen Defeat Pats In Shootout In Regina

The Calgary Hitmen opened a three-game Saskatchewan road trip with a 4-3 shootout win over the Regina Pats on Tuesday night at Brandt Centre.

Goaltender Brayden Peters turned in a first-star performance for the visitors making 41 saves while Sean Tschigerl scored the shootout winner.  The Anaheim Ducks prospect also struck for a power play goal in regulation with Steel Quiring and Riley Fiddler-Schultz adding the other Calgary markers.  For Quiring, it was a memorable tally as it came in his Hitmen debut for the former Kelowna Rocket acquired in a trade earlier this month.

Fiddler-Schultz, skating in career game 150, also added an assist helping his team build period leads of 2-1 and 3-2.

Ryker Evans, Logan Nijhoff and Zack Stringer supplied the Regina goals as the Pats did all their damage on the power-play, including the tying goal 67 seconds into the third period on a two-man advantage.

With the win Calgary improves to 15-12-4-2 while the loss drops Regina to 15-17-0-1.

The Hitmen road trip continues tomorrow in Moose Jaw (Jan. 19) before concluding in Swift Current on Friday, Jan. 21.  Calgary will then host Moose Jaw on Sunday, Jan. 23 in a 4:00 p.m. start at Scotiabank Saddledome.
