The Calgary Hitmen opened up their 2021 WHL pre-season schedule Friday night in Red Deer at the Peavey Mart Centrium, falling 3-0 to their Central Division rivals.

Kai Uchacz led the way for Red Deer with two goals while Jace Isley added a single tally. Chase Coward went the distance stopping all 34 shots fired his way. For the Hitmen, rookie goaltender Ethan Buenaventura stopped 20 shots in 39 minutes of action before being replaced by Brayden Peters who stopped all 12 shots he faced in just over 20 minutes of action.

After a scoreless first period, the Rebels would strike three times including twice in the span of 2:24 late the in the middle frame which was all the offence they needed to record their first victory of the pre-season.

Sophmore defenceman Grayden Siepmann had a team-high six shots on goal while Blake Allan was next with four.

The action now shifts to the Deerfoot Sportsplex at Siksika Nation Saturday, September. 18 for a 7 pm puck drop. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and limited capacity at Deerfoot Sportsplex, fans are asked to show their support by following along on Hitmen social media for game updates.
