The Calgary Hitmen dropped a 5-1 decision to the Red Deer Rebels Saturday evening at the Deerfoot Sportsplex on Siksika Nation, and now sit at 0-2 in the pre-season.

Sophomore forward Tristan Zandee picked up the lone Hitmen marker, lighting the lamp just over six minutes into the contest but it was all Red Deer after that as they scored five unanswered goals highlighted by two power play markers to end 2-for-4 with the man-advantage.

Arshdeep Bains struck twice to lead the Rebels attack while Dallon Melin, Carter Anderson and Ethan Rowland added singles as Red Deer completed the home-and-home sweep.

Justen Maric made 22 saves to secure the victory while both Jack McNaughton and Brayden Peters saw action for the Hitmen. McNaughton ended with 22 saves on 25 shots in 40 minutes and Peters stopped 12 of 14 in the final 20 minutes.

Red Deer heavily outshot the Hitmen 39-23 as they improved to 2-1 in the pre-season.
