The Calgary Hitmen closed a home-and-home set with the Hurricanes on Friday by dropping a 6-4 decision in Lethbridge at the ENMAX Centre.

The Hurricanes trailed until the third period overcoming deficits of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2.  Tyson Laventure led the way with a goal and two assists while Logan McCutcheon, Cole Shepard, Trae Wilke, Brayden Edwards and Jett Jones, into an empty net, completed the scoring for the home ice.

The Hitmen were powered by the line of Riley Fiddler-Schultz, Maximum Muranov and Matteo Danis who combined for eight points.  Fiddler-Schultz and Danis both tallied a goal and two assists while Muranov added a goal and an assist.  The Fiddler-Schultz marker was his team-leading 30th of the season and the first time he has reached the 30 goal plateau in his five-year WHL career.  London Hoilett counted the other marker for Calgary.

Despite the loss, the Hitmen remain two points ahead of Swift Current and Brandon for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot as the Wheat Kings fell 4-3 to the visiting Prince Albert Raiders and Swift Current suffered a 2-0 defeat in Red Deer.

The Hitmen weekend resumes in Medicine Hat tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 18 at 7:00 p.m. before the Tigers make the return trip to Scotiabank Saddledome Sunday, Mar. 19 at 4:00 p.m.  It will be another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential.  In addition to $2 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for concourse activities from TELUS Spark and a cast of characters outfitted by the Costume Shoppe.  There are also $6 Hitmen Happy Hour food and drink deals throughout the day and a post-game family skate.
