The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate forward Sean Tschigerl (pronounced SHUH-gal) on being selected to play for Hockey Canada at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The eight-team tournament will take place from Nov. 2-9 in Medicine Hat, AB and Swift Current, SK.
The 16-year-old will become the 29th player in franchise history to participate in the tournament joining fellow teammates Luke Prokop (2018), Jackson van de Leest (2017), Carson Focht (2016) and Riley Stotts (2016) who have also played in the international event. Focht won gold with Canada White while van de Leest helped Canada Red capture silver.
This past July, Tschigerl was one of 112 players who attended Canada’s national under-17 development camp and introduced to the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.

The 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will see Hockey Canada split 66 players into three teams – Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red, and Team Canada White. They will then compete against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States for a gold medal.
The 4-2-1-0 Hitmen return to action on Friday, Oct. 18 at home against Moose Jaw. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the ‘Dome for Hometowns Heroes and RE/MAX Chuck-A-Puck.
The Hitmen will then conclude a three-game homestand on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. against Medicine Hat. It’s the Diwali Celebration presented by A1 Chesney Service Experts featuring Bhangra dancers during the first intermission and post-game fireworks. Sunday Funday, presented by Ricky’s All Day Grill is also in effect which includes face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday features a specially priced $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
