Calgary Hitmen vs Saskatoon Blades

Saskatoon, SK – Marek Viedensky and Chris Collins both scored twice leading the Saskatoon Blades to a 5-1 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at Credit Union Centre.

The Hitmen had a strong first period outshooting the Blades 15-7 and produced the lone goal as Brooks Macek counted his 10th of the season.

However the Blades struck for three unanswered goals in the second period, then added two more in the third en route to victory.

Viedensky (2g 1a) and Josh Nicholls (3a) both finished the game with three points each for Saskatoon.

The Blades outshot the Hitmen 38-29 as Michael Snider made 34 saves for Calgary while Steven Stanford stopped 28 for Saskatoon.

With the win the WHL leading Blades improve to 34-10-0-2 while the loss drops the Hitmen record to 15-29-2-1. 

Calgary remains 10 points out of a playoff spot and will host the Blades in the second half of the home and home series Tuesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Game time is 7:00 p.m.
