Victor Rask scored his first hat trick in the Western Hockey League as the Calgary Hitmen opened a two game Saskatchewan road trip with a 7-1 win over the Broncos in Swift Current Tuesday night.
Hitmen goaltender Chris Driedger was spectacular in the Hitmen net making 33 saves in a first star performance as Calgary completed a home and home sweep of the Broncos.
Kenton Miller, Trevor Cheek, Justin Kirsch, and Peter Kosterman also scored for Calgary who built period leads of 2-0 and 4-0.
One of the games key moments came in the second period with the Hitmen leading 3-0 Swift Current had a pair of 5-on-3 powerplays but failed to score on either opportunity.
Cody Sylvester chipped in three assists for Calgary while Brock Sutherland had a pair of helpers.
The win was the first on the road this season for the Hitmen and improves their overall record to 3-4-0-1.
Calgary will now enjoy a day off before wrapping up their two game road trip Thursday night in Regina against the Pats.
The Hitmen then return home Sunday to host the Kootenay Ice. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Scotiabank Saddledome.
