TELUS Stars Of The Week

The TELUS Stars of the week is a new feature for the 2021 season that highlights a top performing Hitmen player based off the weekend games, and an individual/organization in the City of Calgary for their work in the community.

Hitmen forward Sean Tschigerl for his on-ice play and the Kerby Centre for their great work in the community earn the honours for the week of April 19 – 25.

Located in the heart of Calgary, Kerby Centre is a not-for-profit, multi-service organization committed to enhancing the ability of older adults 55+ to live healthy, productive lives with a focus on their mental, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

“It has been a year like no other for most of us, but thanks to our hundreds of volunteers it has been a year of outreach to older adults like no other as well.” – Larry Mathieson, Kerby Centre CEO

Hitmen forward Sean Tschigerl earns the honour for the second time this season, after being recognized during the first week of the 2021 WHL season. Tschigerl racked up six points (4G, 2A) in three games to help lead the Hitmen to a 2-1 weekend series win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The 17-year-old scored his first career WHL hat-trick in a 7-2 win on April 24 and is currently riding a career-high ten-game point streak with 15 points (9G, 6A).

Tschigerl is second in team-scoring with 18 points in 19 games and leads the club in goals with 11. The 4th overall pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft also leads the entire WHL in first goals with five.
